You can run several powered locomotives together.
But some locomotives are more capatible and run better together. I have found that running like brands of locos works the best. I also run Atlas,Kato and Athern Geniess unit together with out much problems. Unless there is a large speed diferents most work well. I test capatiblety by placing unit uncoupled on a stright away and runing them at normal track speed. If one unit isn't faster by more than about 10% they will usualy work well together. If you run units with an lot of speed differance you will put extra wear on the gears and also they will peform pooly.
I have run just about every combinations of type and manufactor together in my 30yr plus of modeling and have never had any problems as long as I was careful.

There is no such thing as a bad day of railfanning. So many trains, so little time.

I've found that there are locomotives that are very incompatible -- some old ones never get started if there's a new one on the track.
Make sure your power supply is adequate for the job.
