Actually, there is no proof that having a train set as a kid will lead folk to MRRing as an adult hobby. Exposure to trains during ones lifetime is a bigger factor, I think. That is what got me into the hobby - not the toy set I had as a kid. If AMTRAK shutsdown, the impact on the hobby will be far greater than the price of train sets, IMHO !!! It never occurs to some folk that the makers just might KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING !!!
