I could not find the earlier topic, where a modeler was requesting a copy of the Mantua articulated instructions.

This is a bit better, in the April 1955 issue of Model Railroader, p 20-22 there is an article on building an HO 2-6-6-2 from (nearly) scratch. The techniques in this article are directly applicable to building a 2-4-4-2, or any other articulated - in any scale.

The only power tools required are a good drill press. The standard drills: 1/16" to 1/4" in 64ths, #20-60 and #61-80. An assortment of files, and jeweler's saw or equivalent. And a soldering system (iron, gun, resistance..) Harbor Freight has a 150W solder gun for $9.00.

note also that the Model Power ad in the june Model Railroader shows that they will be re releasing the Mantua articulated, which is not unlike some lumber articulateds.

Here is a happy thought, buy two dock side swithers and scatch builder a 2-4-4-T articulated logging locomotive. Not hard just allot of planning and time to build the boiler and apply the proper fittings. After drivers are powered, forward drivers are free running.
