Art: I'm kind of new to foam as well. I'm assuming you're using the pink or blue stuff . . .right? I don't use the hot wire - I do some rough shaping with a long, sharp blade (like a fully extended disposable boxcutter). I just whittle away at the stuff. You can then smooth things out a bit with a wire brush. This gives it a little texture too. When using the wire brush I have the brush in one hand and the shopvac hose in the other - its a messy job without a vac. After that I paint the surface with some Flex Paste. and then start the ground covering. -slim
