First you must have a place to store your pictures. I use photobucket.com

It's free and easy to use. Get yourself an account there.

When you upload a picture at photobucket you get 3 different links. Url, Tag and Img. Use the Img link (just copy and paste) like this:

Good luck!

You put the URL code in between img tags as shown in the forum code to the left. To put a pic in your sig you do the same thing only in your sig. Make sure you have an account at photobucket.com though, it's the easiest way to post pictures here. You upload and submit photos there, then write down on a piece of paper the URL code. To get pics you right click on the pic you want on the internet, and hit save. Make sure it saves to your 'my pictures' section. Hope that made sense. Good luck!

Not sure what you're trying to say here, but it is actually simpler than that when using Photobucket.

They already provide URLs and IMG tags below photos in their albums. Just put your cursor over the IMG tag, right click and then choose "Save". This copies the IMG tag into your computer's clipboard, no need to write it down. Then go to the message on this forum, place your cursor within the Message block, right click again and choose "Paste". This copies the img tag into the message body.

Give it a try!

I've been putting off posting pics for a long time. It seemed a formidable task, but when I read the first few posts in this thread, I decided to give it a shot. It worked and was a lot easier than I thought.

One helpful soul suggested posting pictures no larger than 800 x 600 pixels so those on dial-up access wouldn't have a long wait for the download.

I'm becoming a pro at this now!

That's correct, but is still not related to posting one of your own photos that is on your computer's hard drive onto this forum, which was the original poster's question.

Here is a Photobucket IMG tag that I've adjusted so it will show up:

[ IMG ]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v409/railfan/Lesters1.jpg[ /IMG ]

(I added spaces within the IMG in square brackets).

Here's the tag that shows up as a photo:

Well you still have to host the photo in an online album somewhere. They are not hosted on the Trains.com site or computer. Either it's Photobucket or some other site. That's just how it works!
