The Athearn has a remote control <br />that handles sound on DC and the BLI has a optional Sidekicker or Quantum Engineer for easy <br />DC push-button sound operation. <br /> <br />In both cases, I got lucky. Good prices & good performance but there are complaints out there <br />about the sound authenticity of both manufacturers. <br /> <br />In addition there's a few BLI complaints out there concerning operating performance/ de-railments. <br />
