Owned and operated by both Santa Fe and the Burlington Route from Houston providing both lines access to New Orleans, and 50% ownership by the Gulf Mobile & Ohio which will give the G.M.& O. access to the H.B.& T.
I plan to model this line in the era of 1964 - 1974; and I plan to mix all three lines stucture and operating standards into this pike, G.M.& O. signals and I know I'll probably raise some eye brows from those whom model the Rebel Route but I plan to use the old Alton Route Standard signalling scheme handed down from former parent line B&O and yes I know I'll probably hear about this move but I grew up in Chicago and I use to go for long drives down old route 66 as a kid and I was always yelping to my parents to stop at the cafe in Pontiac, Illinois very close to the old Alton Mainline and I was always a fan to the Alton Signalling system and so it will be the standard, and besides I think Alton and B&O fans will love to see these signals in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
I am also interested in C.B.& Q. water towers, Sanding platforms, and trackside shanties for hand cars. I intend on using Santa Fe coal stations, Passenger & Freight depots, and Interlocking towers such as the tower that protects Corwith Crossing in Chicago between A.T.& S.F. and G.M.& O. (C&A.)
G.M.& O. standards will be used in the
H.& N.O. paint scheme used on freight and passenger equipment for the year of 1964 so for freight this would be the black and white scheme and for passenger the Red, Marroon and touch of yellow.
I would like to make this pike a reality in the near future and I am still in the planning stages but can any Santa Fe, Burlington Route, and G.M.& O. fans and modellers help?
