Cat got skunked. Couldn't find the source of the smell for 2 hours. We're trying peroxide, baking soda and dishwashing soap.

Get rid of the cat.

Keep the skunk.

You'll get used to it after a while.

ROFLMAO........that's rough! [:0] [xx(]

I thought it was tomato juice ....it's gonna be tough to bathe the cat in tomato suace!

But maybe, tomato sauce, 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees, with some pasta and mozzarella....[^]

True story: we were visiting friends in Kingston, ON, many years ago and they put their little puff-ball bichon frissee out the back door to do its business. We heard the lady of the house hollering and gagging, and she was at a loss as she held her lapdog at arms' length. I told her to open a can of tomato juice and to wa***he dog. She did, and was pleased with the results. She got it all puffy and dry, and we had a good laugh. She put it out the back door once more...............

lemme guess selector, AGAIN??? [:D]

LOL Spacemouse and polizi...that's funny!

polizi...yeah sauce would probably work also...I think I remember it's something about the enzymes or chemicals the tomatoes have the neutralizes the skunk spray.

At least now you can get back to the important things in life, like your trains!

Isn't peroxide what people use to make their hair blonde? So now you have an air head cat? [:p]

I've got that one on my truck. Love the reaction from people from PETA...... Chip, sorry about your cat's run in with the striped kitty! I do actually feel sorry for the cat. How'd you like to get nailed by that stench... LOL I was never a cat person until my Father died in 2001. I somehow managed to inherit 2 half grown kittens that had been my Father's last project to raise in life. He was more concerned about what would happen to these little sweeties than what would happen to his wife. My Mom passed away last June.... guess what I managed to inherit from her????? A little seven pound tabby. So now I have 3 cats (16lbs., 18lbs. and 7 lbs respectively) Love them all dearly as they are very lovie kittes. In effect I have gone from Cat Hater to Cat Hoarder in 3 years! Hope the air has... ah... shall I say... CLEARED at your house and you can get back to trains. [:D]

I hope it wasn't a female cat, or you might have a strange breed of cat ,or skunk on your hands.

I took my dog walking one night down the road here where I live on a long leash several years ago. As we were going around the first curve, he suddenly jumped at something. If none of you guys have ever been sprayed by a skunk, let me tell you, it ain't a pleasant experience. Anyway, me and the dog both got tomato juice baths that night, and the only clothes I was able to salvage was my shoes...

I have two 90 lb. dogs that like to irritate any suicidal critter that gets into "their" back yard. Possums, racoons, rabbits, squirrels, and an occasional skunk or two. The tomato juice trick worked pretty well, but you need to let it dry first.

One thing I learned is to make sure our dogs are well fed. I was late feeding them a couple of years ago, and "Scrappy" caught and ate a skunk. No amount of outside treatment helped. She was "perfumed" for a couple of months. They both had no hope of getting into the house for about 4 months. Good thing it was spring.

Also, apparently they are more interested in trains than my wife and I, so the garden railroad will have to wait a few more years. These two are better at catching G gauge trains than critters!! Good at excavating my roadbed too!!
