I won!!
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 1, 2005 11:02 PM
My first ebay auction!! :-D I've been registered since 1999, took a haitus for about 4 years (2001 until now) because I could never win anything, and tonight, I sniped my first auction and it worked!! I got a Walthers Coal Flood Loader (the older kit that compliments the New River Mining Kit, not the Western Flood Loader they have now) for $30.95 including shipping! Shipping and all, it was still $6 less than retail plus shipping from Walthers when it was new! I got an out of production kit for less than retail! I'm so happy. :-D

I tried to bid on one just like it two weeks ago, but was outbid, and it went for well over $50 including shipping, so I'm really proud of myself. LoL Some of you long time Ebayers probably think that's nothing, but hey, my first win, I'm gonna be excited for a minute. :-D

Anyways, just thought I'd share. :D

It must be sweet. You finally got your victory, but doubly so with the great price.

Well done.

The first one. Now you've done it. Now your going to learn refined searches and your going to set waves of bidding. You'll start looking for auctions that close in the wee hours on weekdays, beacuse they are less likely to be sniped. You'll stock pile so many kits that you won't get them done in years. But you'll get your bargains.

Congrats! Nice find, and a reasonable price!

Good luck on your future bidding!

Congratulations jshrade. At least you were there when you won. My first win was on an item that was priced at $24.00 when I put a bid of $100.00 on it just to be on the safe side and walked away. When the auction was over, it ended up costing me $91.00 when it was only worth $50.00 at the most. Someone out there really wanted it bad, or decided they were going to make me pay for out bidding them-which they did...

Jshrade,
Sniping? Sniping? You SNIPED a bid?

Pretty cool, wasn't it?

Guess now we'll hear from those who disagree with the practice of sniping. I used to be one of them and I lost a LOT of auctions OR paid more than an item was worth (to me, anyway). Then I found sniping.[:D][:D] I still lose a lot of auctions, but I'm not over-bidding anymore!!![^] And I win a goodly share! Wait, that may not be so good.....all that money....and for TRAINS!! Woo woo!

As to those who disagree with sniping, some of them may not like the three-point rule in basketball, or the designated hitter in baseball, but them's the rules we play by! I say, can't beat 'em, join 'em!

Darrell, quietly winning with an under-bid...for now
