Bob, the reason they do it is contained in your posting, "I am amazed" were, I believe, the exact words. (not trying to take anything out of context here - just pointing out they're getting a reaction from us). These guys are into it to impress each other. They impressed you - you even took a picture of it. I'm not saying it's right at all (it's quite wrong in my opinion, in fact), but they're getting a reaction - if they're getting this reaction just from us, imagine the reaction they're getting from their peers! As for someone's posting about the car number not being painted over - I'd bet any amount of money the car number was repainted on over the graffitti. A couple years ago I saw a huge new UP yellow engine covered in graffiti, just as this car is above. It was quite unbelievable.
