Well I just ran my first feeders on the layout. I am using common rail with spdt swithches. As soon as I put power to the selection it overloads.
I have checked all the connections and they are all secure. Does any body have any suggestions? I am stuck until I figure this out. Thanks for any help

Vern,
It sounds like you have a short in your wiring or you have a reversing loop that is not isolated and causing a short. First, check the wires to make sure each rail is connected to the correct bus wire and then check your plan for any reversing sections. All the reversing sections must be isolated from the rest of the rail and should have an independent direction control switch. Good Luck - Ed

it's not always easy to see a reversing loop at first glance. You may have to look at the plan more than once.
For this, and any other wiring problems, get the book "EASY MODEL RAILROAD WIRING" by Andy Sperandeo, and published by Kalmbach. It's great, and is a BIG help to me.

Well, upon looking at the layout from a distance I may have found the problem. Two turnouts that are frog to frog. I'll have to isolate them this week end. Thanks for all the help.
