Mid Week Photo Fun (17 Aug)
Posted by chateauricher on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 2:08 AM
Perhaps this is the earliest MWPF has started; but I'm at work and its very quiet. So I decided I'd try my hand at posting photos.

I finally got around to setting up an account with railimages.com and posted my first photo.

Below is a photo I took while on a train vacation in May 2004. A friend and I drove to Sault-Ste-Marie (Ontario, Canada) and took the Algoma Central's Tour of the Line train to Hearst and back. On the outbound (northward) leg, I relaxed and enjoyed the spectacular scenery. On the return (southbound) leg, I took photos. I must have taken about three or four 24-exposure rolls of photos. I had the film processed and the photos burned onto CDs.

In this particular photo, I was standing in the door of the last car of the southbound train, looking northward as we travelled through the Agawa Canyon's narrowest point.

(If you can't see the photo, here is the link : http://www.railimages.com/albums/timothyjohnston/aaa.sized.jpg)

Hopefully, I'll be able to get more photos of my trip posted; as well as plans for my layout.

You need to add some railfans taking pictures, but to be authentic, you need a BNSF rail policemen telling them to get 100 feet back [:(!]

Very cool! I played MSTS the first version for a while. I would be sitting there for hours...

My new Bachmann passenger cars, I couldn't find a good deal on the net for the four car set so I got four coaches.

I like them they run nice right out of the box. Not the right colour but I can touch them up.[:D][:D]

The couplers steer with the trucks!!

I'm of two minds on weathering. I like to run the new stuff new, at least for a few weeks. If I tire of the look, weathering is a one-hour job...remember, I'm Selector, not Aggro. But once you weather, unless you are a really good sprayer, you'll never get it looking new again.

Besides, every RR put new and newly reconditioned locos on the tracks regularly.

Actually, I hope I can, or at least something like it. I took tons of photos on that trip for just that purpose — to give me landscaping ideas. All I need are the skills. [swg]
