N Scale is going to be problematic for that era, unless you plan to scratchbuild. N Scale tends to be heavily modern oriented, although there's a decent amount of stuff available from the late steam era (mid 30's) on. <br /> <br />HO Scale has a decent amount of stuff available for the late 1800's, but it will mostly be craftsman stuff. <br /> <br />To find out the info you need, you'll need to decide on a railroad (UP, Central Pacific, D&RGS are all good bets) and then find some books on their early years.
