Well, the high bid quoted works out around the same as a good brass O-scale steam loco kit over here, including wheels, motor, etc to complete. You'd get a large 4-6-2 tender loco for this sort of sum and it would have a similar level of detail. In G scale this would buy you one of the LGB RhB electric locos - again, gorgeous model, will buy one if I ever have the money, currently financially restricted to their smaller models! <br /> <br />I guess it's not such a crazy sum when considered compared to these items. If you only model HO and plan for this to be the centrepiece of your life's work, and have the disposable income needed, then it makes sense. Personally I wouldn't pay this much for scenery, but that's just my personal tastes - I prefer to spend money on locos, stock, etc. I'm a little surprised the manufacturer hasn't re-introduced this kit as the demand is clearly there.
