Sounds like you are raising them up right though!

My own kids liked the Train Under the Tree thing, but that was it. None of them were into modeling or doing creative things with their hands. My Son would steal away some of my Finished Automobile Models though. I had a nice 1/12 scale 69 Camaro SS that was detailed out to the MAX. He still has it and now displays it in his own home!

Neat Stuff with the Wife getting excited! Mine likes the fact that I have a hobby that keeps me home after 24 years of Military Service. She manages a Fabric Store, and these articles on using Fake fur for grasses and such for the layout are really starting to get me into her store to see what I can find.

Back to your daughter. I would get her set up with some figures, brushes, paint, and a pin vise or two and let her have at it. She may want to add passengers into the Passenger cars for the Hogwart! That would make a nice first project for her!

Chris
[/quote]

BINGO!! There has to be a bunch of cheap plastic figures that will fill the hogwarts and unpainted. The really edgy problem may be cutting the legs off to get the people to "sit" in the seat by the window?

All of the other posts hit it on the head. While teenagers are some of the best people around they are also under a great deal of "change" the number one being the opposite sex. Almost nothing compares to being with a girlfriend or around other teens in a social situation.

If it turns out that she likes this sort of activity ( I put in word "work" and changed it to "Activity" because am biased ) perhaps she can continue to find places for the people at the club? I am betting that the club's towns and streets are rather empty.

What about trees? And maybe a small scene at a lake where children are fishing, boating and playing?

I am thinking anything that provides your daugther with a "outlet" for actually doing people scenes and filling a passenger train with painted figures may help her enjoy the fashion possibilities of expression with certain clothing styles etc.

Brace yourself Mouse, these next few years are going to be a true adventure. I personally dont have children but I recall very well the trials I put my parents thru during my teen years.

Dont worry so much about the locomotives and running them right now, try to look at scenery, people and life scenes. Children sometimes see alot more in life than we oldsters who long ago have decided that we have seen and done everything. =)
