K-Line F59PHI vs. MTH F59PHI
Posted by Amtrk14 on Saturday, June 4, 2005 12:41 PM
Hello,

A year or two ago I purchased the K-line Amtrak Surfliner 4-car set and an additional Surfliner Coach. At the time only K-Line had a matching Surfliner F59PHI, but that was sold out. So, I got a Amtrak California MTH Premier F59PHI. Yesterday I looked at the MTH website and saw that they were coming out with a Premier Surfliner F59PHI w/ proto sound 2. I then also looked at the K-Line website a saw that their Surfliner F59PHI is due Fall 2005. My question is, who has the better engine. I've had good luck with my current Amtrak CA F59PHI. The train store owner where I got the set and the engine says that the Proto Sound 2(MTH) is a lot better than the Lionel RailSounds(K-Line)

Thank you,

Sean

I really can't help you with this, but i couldn't help noticing your account name. Since you're an amtrak fan, come on over to the amtrak thread. I'm sure the guys over there would love to help you out.

I can't really help you much, since I do mostly HO, But I know that K-Line and MTH both make excellent locos. I would listen to the sounds each engine makes and compare them.
Hope this helps!

I would say the MTH its sounds are much better the rail sounds but it also depends on what type of controller you have. if you have the lional go with the K-line and if you have the MTH go with the MTH. i hope this helps.
