Commuter Trains derail in LA

We had something similar happen over here a little while back - someone decided to commit suicide by parking his car across a main line used by HST sets running at around 100MPH. Result was he killed not only himself but also several train passengers and crew, destroyed a lot of stock and put a busy route out of action for weeks while repairs were made. I lean towards view of how selfish can one person be? To kill themselves is one thing, but to take a bunch of innocent bystanders with them is beyond outrageous - can't in fact think of words to describe this that would be appropriate to the audience here!

I've not seen pictures of the LA crash yet, but it sounds like the locos and cars held up pretty well - I heard 9 people killed and 200 injured from BBC news, it could have been a lot worse given how heavily-used these trains are. If anything this should show how rail is a safe means of transport due to the strength of the vehicles used. Just my thoughts!
