Restoring 224E set

Repair parts for the 224E are readily available. After disassembly and cleaning, you should clean the commutator surface (Brasso- NOT sandpaper) and replace the brushes (don't lose the springs behind the brushes!!). You might also want to replace the contact rollers (that contact the center rail) if these are very worn. Use light grease on the gears and oil (sparingly) on all bearings. If there are problems with the E-unit (the reverse unit) you should take the loco to a repair shop- check with a local hobby shop on this.
