Marklin have offered a solar-powered Z-scale briefcase layout as a pre-built set - very expensive but also highly desirable! I'd say for N you would need a suitcase rather than a briefcase - there would not be enough room in most briefcases for the radius of curves you'd need for reliable operation. The ideal would probably be one of those "hardbody" Samsonite-type suitcases as this will give you a solid base to attach your roadbed, etc to and will also protect the contents well.
