Hello Marty,

Atlas offered an HO scale RS-1 painted for the SI (in Union Pacific colors but with SI lettering) at one time. Red Caboose has made a 40-foot flatcar, and Microscale has made SI decals. There may have been other rolling stock offered from various manufacturers from time to time, but I can't recall any immediately. Check Walthers at www.walthers.com.

As to era, have you chosen one? The SI began operation in 1906 as a Canadian Pacific-financed link to Spokane. The CP acquired control of the SI in 1917.

Following Chap. 11 reorganization in 1941 (at which time CP lost its stock interest) the SI was independent. The UP acquired the SI on Oct. 6, 1958.

The SI was, and remains, primarily a bridge route from Eastport, Idaho, where the UP interchanges with the Canadian Pacific, to Spokane, Wash.

Check with the Union Pacific Historical Society (www.uphs.org) for additional information and references to books.

Regards,

In addition to Paul's suggestions, take a look at the January 1991 issue of Model Railroader.
