Good, I was fearing there would be a EMD prime mover in there.

Went to the BLI site to check out the latest developments. I clicked on the sound byte of the upcoming C30-7. All I can say is

Mama Mia! She's-a-spicy GE, allright!

That's exactly what I remember the old U-Boats and Dash 7s sounding like back in the 70s and early 80s! They were LOUD!! I think I was the only person in my neighborhood back then that used to enjoy that loud, chugging sound. At full throttle SCL GE's could be heard several miles away!

I wouldn't mind having this unit just for the sound of the diesel!

Go to the http://www.Broadway-Limited.com website and see what you think.

Would be cool![:D][;)]

The sound byte is usually better than the actual model because of the speaker size in the model. They are getting better with the speaker placement and volume.
Atlas has done a good job with their new dash 8-40CW diesels, but making all of the diesel sounds with a small speaker is really quite hard.

Oh no!.........

Guys we've already had several EMD vs. GE threads in the past., some pages long!

I think most of us can appreciate the qualities of the:

(1) EMD 567's "baritone" chant.
(2) EMD 645 turbo "whine".
(3) Alco 244 and 251's "Harley Davidson on steroids" Diddy-Whumps.
(4) GE's FDL series throbbing "chugs".

It's all about locomotive music.[:-^][8D][:D] Don't bicker, enjoy it! [;)]

And then there's the stacato chatter and roar and breathing and hissing of a steam locomotive that blows them all away.[;)]

(sorry, couldn't resist![8D])

4884BigBoy,

You're right on that one and I have the proof!

Back in February 1981as a high school senior, I worked on the Operation Lifesaver special train that ran a few excursions in Florida. She was hauled by the Chessie 4-8-4 #614. Incredible experience! I was able to tape record her from the 2nd car, which had open windows.

10-4.

Wow! Now that is going over the top! I thought that the licensing fee on UP products would only amount from $1 to $5 for the manufactuer, if even that much!

I may be pre-mature, but it sounds like someone's padding their MSRP! Not good for a BLI, which is a company that's already hurting!
