mounting Kadeed
Posted by Blind Bruce on Sunday, May 1, 2005 1:45 PM
I hava a Mantua heavy Pacific with the six wheeled tender. The Kadee book says that No. 37 will work on this unit.
The draft gear box on the tender has a large, round area that the original coupler went around. The 37 has its own draft box and mounts with a single 2-56 screw on top of this round area.
My question is, what keeps the box from rotating? Do I need to glue it in place?
Many thanks,
BB

Maybe. Before you apply the adhesive, make sure that the height is correct.

In my experience, the friction produced by the screw and the mounting clamping together is enough to stop it shifting - try it and see what happens. I've had a few problems with them moving if hit or knocked by packaging, but it's probably better that they move slightly (and can be pushed straight again) than anything breaking.
