Update On Progress

Very nice, Carl--I like the double-cut through the mountain slope. What technique and materials did you use to build the mountain? Keep posting photos as you progress, okay?

Thanks Guys ,Tom, Im using plaster of paris,powder with warm water ,and the heavy duty paper towelsthat scott,has ,you can find em at home depot,and old news paper,with it taped down,im kinda stuck ,now as i know i have to spray it,with water color paint????,and not sure which.color,any ideas??and you use a spray bottle,if i remember right ,,hehe i think.

Hey nice work Carl. Spray bottle works well. cut it well with acohol (70%) type to help it spread and soak, plus it well dry much fasfter, allowing multiple coats quicker. If you have India Ink ( I think thats it) would work well to give it a nnice gray color. I see that you are in Chanlder, Ilive pretty close to you actually. I have some I could give you. I have more than I will ever use.

Carl--no, I don't use a spray bottle for the paint, I brush on acrylic artist colors. I use a mixture of gold ochre, orange, burnt Sienna and raw Sienna mixed up and diluted in water, then just brush it on. However, the colors I use are particular to the clay-soil found in the mid-Sierras, so you might want to experiment with colors as to whatever type of terrain you want to represent. What I use the spray bottle for is to wet the mountains with WS scenic glue as a preparation for sprinkling on the ground foam for the earth and grass. I know a lot of guys are using flat latex paint in earth colors now for painting the plaster, so you might think about that. At any rate, just remember that scenery is where the messy fun starts, LOL!
