Do you live near Columbia, MO?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 5:15 AM
I'm new in Columbia, MO. My friends are all in another state and I miss having someone to pal around with. My wife's encouraging me to find new friends here but it's hard meeting new people, railbuffs especially. It's more fun to share you time with someone going trackside for photos and general freindship. If you live close to the Columbia, MO area and would like to strike a new friendship, I'd sure like to hear from you. E-mail is zreevesman@mchsi.com. My name is Allen. Thanks!!

Hey Allen. I'm not in Columbia, but I'm about 45 minutes away near Sedalia. I get to Columbia pretty often, average 2-3 times a month. Welcomw to mid-MO. You are welcome to e-mail me. You can send e-mail by following my user id link.

I'm in suburban Kansas City (Independence) but make over to Warrensburg to operating/work sessions on a friend's layout. Warrensburg is just east of Sedalia. If memory servers (and sometimes it doesn't!) I believe there is an active club in Jefferson City.

Cheers,

Ed

I know there are some narrow gaugers around central Missouri. There was just a meet held in the Cloumbia and Jeff City area by a group I lurk around, the St. Louis Area Narrow Gaugers:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SaintLouisAreaNarrowGaugers/?yguid=86006

SLANG normally meets in St. Louis, but it was decided to move the spring meet to central Missouri this year, where it was held last weekend (darn, you just missed it!) I haven't been to any of SLANG's meets yet, due to being in school in Oct. and April when they are held, but I am acquantainted with a few of them from past National Narrow Gauge Conventions. They're all good folks and I know they mentioned that some standard gauge fellows were involved in the recent meet.

So join their list and introduce yourself and you can make some local contacts. Even if you're not a narrow gauge fanatic, they are local and can show you the model railroad ropes. Don't worry about not being in St. Louis as, in addition to Columbi-area members, they also have members in KC and Illinois, as well as others that stay in touch though they've moved away, that I'm aware of.

I grew up in Warrensburg, and still have some family there. I would be very interested in meeting some modelers from that close to home, as I don't know any serious model railroaders in the Sedalia area. I am only 40 minutes from Warrensburg. If you're interested drop me an email.
