Winston Link Audios
Posted by Virginian on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 11:09 AM
I guess most folks are familiar with his wonderful photographs, but if you ever get the chance don't pass on listening to his audios. My favorite is one where N&W spotted a caboose behind the engine on a time freight, and let Winston ride on the roof and record, all the way from Crewe to Roanoke. He does the commentary and it is fantastic. Dec. 31, 1958, rolling out of Crewe at dawn, and she finally stalled on Blue Ridge and called in a pusher. A snapshot from an era gone forever.

There were a couple either at the O. Winston Link Museum page or at the N&W Historical Society, I forget which.
