Nope, the first ended last year. I was the only one who entered then, which really is sad. As of a few months ago James(Student of Big Sky Blue) was still planning to hold another one, later in the year this year. He'll probably notice this and can tell you himself and add more details.

Hi,

Yes I am still planning on holding a scratchbuilding contest later this year. The feed back I got about last year's contest was that it was held during the wrong part of the year. I am thinking about starting it in August and having it go until November.

According to the rules I have written, you have to build and entry specially for the contest. However I still do need examples to show as "sample entries" I will foward you a copy of last years rules, so if you want to share this project, write something up according to the rules, and I will be glad to use it as a "Sample Entry."

The rules will remain substantially unchanged, I have to change a few minor details, but overall will stay pretty close to the original.

Thanks for indicating your interest. and I look foward to your participation this year. Start Planning now.

Would the DPM (www.dpmkits.com) modular system count as "scratchbuilt" or does it have to be competely scratchbuilt? Could I have a copy of the rules, too? Thanks, Jake

Im not running the contest, but here is my take on the rules. It clearly states that the entry should be scratchbuilt. Not kitbashed. In my book building a DPM would be a kitbash. But once again I am not running the contest so you will have to check with James.

Oh and I almost forgot...[#welcome]

In the context of this contest, DPM Modular sections would be a Kitbash..

However, I do let you use comercially made detail parts like doors, windows, brake gear.

As soon as I get things organized, will post the rules.

I am in the planning process for the Hell's Gate bridge, in HO scale. I hope I can finish it for the contest. It will clear span about 2 1/2 feet.

That would be cool to see.

Just an FYI, The models entered for the contest cant be started until the first day of the contest, This allows everyone a more even playing field in which to build. I am in the middle of graduating from college and a move, so things are pretty hectic at the moment, However I hope to have things orgainized so I can get the ball rolling and have the build start date be August 1st. No garuntees. But that is the plan right now.

How about various series of SP vanderbuilt tenders, not available by any other means in S scale? Perhaps my scratchbuilt C8 project will be off the drawing board by contest time, until then, its ba***ill you crash with my 2-6-0 kits. Does a scratchbuilt headlight qualify as well?
SP the way it was in S scale

The tenders would definatly qualify, But you can only submit just the tender. As for the headlight, I would have to think about that, because that is a detail part that modelers are allowed to purchase.
