Coffee Shop 1-Year Anniversary: Online Party?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, April 25, 2005 5:11 AM
Hi fellow modelers, with the

[bday] First Anninversary of the Coffee Shop [bday]

thread coming up on Friday April 29, Elliot (a.k.a. Big_Boy_4005) would like to mark the occassion. I ran this idea by him, he likes it and he asked me to spread the word:

Here's the plan:

Try to arrange for as many regular Coffee Shop 'patrons' as possible to be online at a given time (mutually agreed-upon in advance) - maybe around 9:00pm EDT, that way it will also be after work hours on the West Coast. (Since this might pose a problem for our friends in Europe, Australia etc., we might consider separate 'online parties' for people in different timezones?) Each person would post a quick "hello" message to signal that they are participating and not merely 'lurking'.

If anybody has additional ideas to help make this online party successful, please share them with us!

Ken,
sounds good - if our friends outside Conus want to participate we could reference the hour in Greenwich Mean Time as well and work it from there. J.R.

Great Idea! [:D][:D]
I´ll try to be there! is it only the one year anniversary, it seems to be around for ages, speaking for myself, a different party for the dutch timezone will be pretty lonely,
and IMHO shoots past the goal of our beloved coffeeshop, a meeting place for all people that are into the greatest hobby in the WORLD !
I sure know I met some great people there ![8D]

btw do not forget to invite our hosts at the Kalmbach offices !

Can you give me the partytime in forumtime please [:D] would hate to miss it !

Excellent idea J.R., but I'm a bit rusty on my time translation skills.

Any other volunteers?

Sounds good to me!!

According to the time on the forum the forum time is GMT minus 6 to central time, so that means that you "odd" people not on Gods time will have to figure it out. God runs on time in the central time zone since that's where TEXAS is. Please notice that I'm not predjedice.

I guess that we're gong to fall from grace and God's going to start using German time since that's where the new "German Shepherd" is from.

Ya'll have a blessed day and remember SANTA FE ALL THE WAY

9 pm, shucks, I will be at work since I work second shift. [:(] [banghead]

I guess I will have to party early or after I get off work at midnight. I sure hope the party runs real late. [;)]

OK, here is the GMT translation people were asking for:

04/29/05 9:00pm EDT = 04/30/05 1:00am GMT

...and here's the official GMT website to translate your local time:
http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/

In light of this, should we re-evaluate the starting time? Advise...

Do I understand this?? Do I care?? It's going to be 8:00PM in CDT and at my age I may still be awake. Flip will may still be awake since he works late but then he's in EST and he's older then me and dirt.

Ken: be sure and say something about it in the CS as my memory isn't to good.
What did I have for breakfast and where did I take my pants off?

I'll definately be there, but when are we going to have it for sure? Still 9PM eastern which is 8PM forum time? I like that the best personally, but what about everybody else?

Time Zones(with local variations): Your longitude divided by 15. This gives the hours different from GMT. If you are west of Greenwich, then subtract the difference. East, then add. This holds true till you hit 180 degrees longitude. Then your on your own....[4:-)][%-)][:)]

It's going to be fun! Let's see, Teffy, we all start with Texas Time and then work forward or back from there. Is that right? Nick, absolutely bring the guitar.

See you,
Ga. Tom

Well folks, I'd love to, but I have a few problems....
A - I have to be up early Sat morning as I have to work this weekend.
B - Since CFO still has the cpu at our old place, I currently have to check in from either work, library, or my parents. And since I have to deal with 'A', I won't be at work at that time, and I'm sure I won't be at my parents at that time, which is where the problem comes in... Library closes @ 9PM! The rule is that cpus need to be turned off by 8:30, so, I'll just have to come in a little early, and kick off the celebration before the library closes!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Well, After I came home from Nam, (in my young and insane days,) I was banned from some of the sleezest bars in Detroit. I mellowed out with the help of guys that hung around places like " The Old Miami Bar" on Cass ave. ( Miami means MIA's of Michigan) Another bunch of good people.

I'll be there, and promise to be on my best behavior.

Later,
Bill
P.S. I'll even bring a bottle of -GOOD Single Malt Scotch-.
