rail color idea

If we can get the wheels blackened for our locomotives, is it possible the track manufacturers may one day sell blackened track. I grew up around SP lines and the track always looked black to me.

Micro Engineering already sells pre-weathered track and rail. They also sell a Rail Weathering Solution.

Dang Gary, you're good.

I didn't find spraying the track on the layout with an airbrush particularly taxing.

One drawback to pre-weathered -
Soldering to preweathered track is a pain!!! I end up having to wire bru***he ends and spots where I want feeders...I have ordered all un-weathered on recent purchases....

The track around New England has that rusty brown color rather than black. But, preweathering would save a step.

Has anyone ever used the weathering solution rather than painting?

Thanks for the feedback, planned to paint. just thought it would be a good idea. The soldering feedback was especialy appreciated. now I can weigh the pros and cons. As for you who insist on a negative remark, be ready.

I run DCC on ME's weathered code 83 track. Using Ruby paste flux I have not had to remove the weathering before solderingfeeders. Never had any problems.
