Am I looking in the wrong places or have DPM kits gone up 50% everywhere?

Prior to Christmas I asked relatives and such not to buy me clothes I wouldnt wear, music I wouldnt listen to and cr@p I would never use as Christmas presents. Instead I made a list of all the DPM (38) kits I wanted, added links to online stores and pages with the items I wanted then emailed this to them. Failing this I asked for cash so I could purchase them myself.
Needless to say, I still got some clothes, a couple of CD's and cr@p that people got me because they thought it was 'cute' or 'cool' <sigh> however I did get some cash which I promptly spent on 16 DPM kits.
Now I am ready to purchase another batch but the prices seem to have jumped substantially, the kits I bought and ones I had listed that were around $9-$10 (internet trains & discount trains online) are now selling for $14-$15.
Is this the same everywhere or is there somewhere else I need to look?

Many thanks
Karl.

While I don't know for sure, perhaps the price increase is because of the increase in price of oil - being that plastic is a petroleum product. Perhaps someone more in the know can fill us in.
If you ain't having fun, you're not doing it right and if you are having fun, don't let anyone tell you you're doing it wrong.

DPM kits, made by George Sellios as a one-man operation, are extremely limited production. The increase in cost is probably due more to increased demand and the resulting shortage of available kits than anything else.

WHOA! Are you ever way off base! DPM is Design Preservation Models, makers of injection molded plastic model kits. George Sellios does FSM - Fine Scale Miniatures kits, limited production and expensive kits. No relation at all, other than they both use the letter "M" in their abbreviation!

Even with price increases, DPM kits are a great value.

They do pop up on Ebay.

Maybe the original post-er unposted it. I know I can go back and EDIT my posts, because I lot of times I preview them but I STILL don't see my mistakes until they are posted. Then I try to fix them real quick before somebody else catches them.

This could very well be the reason.

Some of the major Raw materials in Styrene are Benzene and petroleum. Benzene has been in very tight supply and the price for this stuff has skyrocketed over the bast year. On top of this the increase in oil to produce the material and to create the energy that runs the plants that make it have provided a double whammy.

I didn't know that about the un-posting, I knew about the mistakes and editing real quick.

Thanks
