So I started swimming through the great eBay looking for bargains on N switchers. I had no care really what road name the switcher was as long as it was a bargain--or so I though.

I would see a Conrail or NS or B&O and those were okay. Burlington Northerns and Erie Lackawannas were passible.

And I simply gagged at the thought of a Union Pacific or Santa Fe ad clicked off immediately.

But BNSF was okay if not desirable.

I have no logical explanation for this. What is happening to me?

I don't really have anything to add, but I just lOVED the howmus disclaimer and think that it should be included in everyone's signature. If you don't want to carry the whole thing, at least carry "homus disclaimer given".

I know I'm going to.

A snob is a modeler that looks down his/her nose at the New York, New Haven and Hartford. In honest truth, there are no undesireable railroads anywhere in the world, just misguided railroad executives that have abandoned the use of steam locomotives, ice loading refrigerator cars, and heavyweight Pullman passenger equipment.

Chip:

Many railroads--especially those that did some logging--often used geared locomotives for switching. A Shay or Heisler provides better power pickup than an 0-4-0T, and generally has good slow-speed running too.

Charles,

Green Cove Springs?!? Know exactly where that is. I lived just north of you (in Jax) for 21 years.

I'm transplanted up in NE Ohio now. Hadn't heard that name for a number of years. Is it still the quaint litlle town it used to be, or has Orange Park managed to engulf it yet? Speaking of Orange Park, is the Monkey Farm facility still around? (I know they don't use anymore but the structure was still there.)

Oops, sorry, guys [:I] ...reliving childhood memories...
