MDC/Roundhouse RS-3 Details
Posted by rrinker on Monday, April 18, 2005 3:01 PM
I recently pickedup an undecorated Roundhouse RS-3 kit, one withthe upgraded drive. I'm trying to find a few additional details to make it a really complete model - markers for the corners, twin headlight inserts, horn bracket since the unit I am modellign had the horns mounted from the front of the cab on a bracket, not just on top of the long hood, window glass for the cab, and a cooling coil that appears behind the engineer's side air tank in photos I have. I've been pokign throught he Walther's catalog and I think I found the headlight pieces, but that's about it. Anyone have a source for RS-3 detail parts? I've looked through the listings for Cal cale, Details West, and Detail Associates with not much more than the light inserts and, if I chose to bother, a more detailed horn itself. But no brackets, cooling coils, or markers that look right.

Custom Finishing (in the Walthers catalog) has curved grab irons for Also as well as a couple of different stacks (including the steam generator stack on the RS3's.
If you ain't having fun, you're not doing it right and if you are having fun, don't let anyone tell you you're doing it wrong.

Thanks, 'll check them out. I think PSC has the headlight. I did see the Custom Finishing grabs - if I get ambitious enough to shave the cast on ones that's what I'll go with, I'm not bending my own [:D]
Don't need and steam generator stuff, these are freight only units. I need about 5 more - if I can get them for the price I paid for this one, I will have a real bargain fleet.
