atlas 8-40 CW

now I know why Atlas called their sound equipped diesels 'gold' because they are as hard to find as real gold.

I placed my order for two Santa Fe units with my LHS last fall and never got any when they were released last month.

The LHS claims his supplier is sold out....

anyone else out there think these limited runs are abit too limited ???

Sounds to me like a communication problem at your LHS. That almost happened to me - my CSX gold unit arrived and sat on the shelf for 2 weeks. If I hadn't been online here and seen others talking about the cw40-8, I'd have never thought to call the shop and ask them about it. It seems everybody there thought the 'other guy' had called me. Luckily they didn't put my loco on the regular stock shelf....!

I don't like this 'limited run' business much either, but I guess the mfgr's didn't have much choice. Seems like more people nowadays want 'perfect' locos RTR, than the Athearn BBs of earlier days where you buy add-on parts from Details West etc. and kitbash your own masterpiece. [sigh]
