Athearn Kits getting expensive on eBay

I was visiting ebay when I noticed this auction for a pair of Sentinel Boxcars.

At the moment the price has gone past the 40.00 mark and heading to 50.00 territory.
I thought Athearn kits are supposed to be only 10.00 or so?

These appear to be custom painted Bev-Bel box cars, perhaps they only made a few, hence the price. I don't know what they originally cost, but were more than the plain boxcars. They are not standard blue box cars

Check the bid history. Two guys look like they were in a bidding war. The winner had earlier purchased a car just like one of these for about $14. Sometimes folks get caught up in the bidding madness and common sense is foregone.
