I'm just DC so those posted negatives about sub sound is not a concern so in my case the sound & remote are extra bonus. Appearence wise, similar to my Beast from the East, 2-6-6-6 which was more expensive and without the bonus When I run both at the same time, same track, the operation of the beast is loud enough to detrack from the sound effects. The manual recommends not to operate the loco in excess of 18 volts but with my MRC 9500 series I can't get it beyond 13. This limitation acts as a speed governor.
