Question on BLI locomotives
Posted by okiechoochoo on Sunday, March 20, 2005 2:25 PM
Just getting back into HO and I have a question. I noticed that a large discount dealer in the April MR is selling BLI locomotives for right at 50% off. Isn't this a large discount? It made me wonder if there are problems with the BLI units and they are not selling well or is this just a good deal on great trains. I would appreciate some input on the BLI units. I am considering both steam and diesel units if they are a quality locomotive. Your time is appreciated
Thanks

All Lionel all the time.

The BLI loco's are great, the discounts are to clear the shelves to make way for new additions to the ever increasing lines available. i am converted to them and the discounts are just what i needed to get me onboard[:)][:)]

STANDARD HOBBY SUPPLY is running special ads on slow moving overstock's on BLI's inventory, not their's. Before taking your your order they check with BLI, first. .

BLI has an ambitious new release program, and want's to free up space and money for same. Investing in inventory is expensive. Size of production run's and estimating sales, is at best a 'guessing' game.

I bot the discount and opted for the GG1 with the DC sound(sidekick) controller.
The GG1 comes from BLI and the controller came from TW. If you do
buy, you must mention COUPON SPECIAL to get the larger discount.

I have the BLI GG-1 and you won't be disappointed. I took advantage (?) of the Hudson "trade-in"... hated to pay another hundred bucks just for a few upgrades but my original was their first release and it did have a few minor problems, mostly with jerky operation due to whatever alloy they used for the drivers, they really seemed to collect a lot of CRUD... Anyway, BLI had my new Hudson on my front porch SIX days after I mailed in the old one! (OH-VA)
I thought that was pretty quick turn-around and they didn't even wait for the check to clear!
My BLI roster is up to 6 right now and I'm happy with every one! The latest, the Pennsy 2-10-4 and the NYC Niagra are superb!!
