Thanks for all the replies! All the information is helpful and I have successfully disassembled the motor and the trucks. Clever design, but obviously made with quick assembly in mind, rather than periodic maintenance. <br /> <br />I was aware of the motor grounding problem with DCC and will check all that out before applying power.
