AHM covered hopper
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, July 27, 2002 7:47 PM
During the mid 1960 era Assoaited Hobby Manfacutres produced a 47ft. PS2 3 or 4 bay covered hopper. It was a longer version of the MDC 32ft. version. What I would like to know is, there were a few other manufactures that produced the car after AHM. Who were they?? Thanks ahead of time. Tim

Hi,

Try IHC-International Hobby Corporation. This company picked up quite a bit of old company's cars, engines and building kits.

That was an interesting model that alot of modelers used to look for at swap meets
Somewhere I had in the back of my mind that Con-Cor picked up the tooling for that particular car

I am glad I could help and I am glad the car is still around as it is more prototypical for my era than most of the versions available

The Con Cor covered hopper is [ or was ]also available from "H & D's Own Assorted Cars", from Calgary ,Alberta, Canada. These are available at hobby shops up here on a discount rack. H & D repackages Con Cor HO cars as their own.Have tried a couple of their kits and had no problem. Don't know if they distribute in the USA. Regards / Mike

This old AHM hopper was later released by E&B valley which then became Robins Rails. I have one in factory paint lettered for GN,very nice! And now you see Concor has it.
