I'm trying to find a n scale consolidation,or a 0-6-0 or a early diesel(rs3?)for a static background scene on my ho layout. If it does'nt have a motor or it's a little beat up that's OK..I have tried 3 or 4 hobby shops but they had nothing that I could use.I also don't want to spend too much on a static model.Doe's anyone have a source?

I got some old static engines by MDC (HO) on ebay that were specifically made to be static, I think there were 2 or 3 different models made--they COULD be powered, Some of you N-scalers out there must know !

I've actually seen some non powered toys in local shops that appeared to be in N scale. There was a diesel, a steam engine (don't recall the size), a tender (sold separtely) and some freight cars. I think they were around $3.00 each. Might be worth a look in toy departments.

I can sure think of some bad/non-running locos but suspect nearly any old loco from ebay might do. I've got a 4-6-2 ATSF that will be in a park, and some Bachmann F7A/B that should be in a park or unpowered sidings. Have a B-mann N scale PCC that will become a static model, the wheels fell off, but I have them in the box. There are some other Bachman's cheap in N, and LL has a little Joe. Train show might reveal some locos worthy of static display.
