Would using the European style couplers with their buffers help this problem?  <div style="clear:both;"> </div> [/quote] You might try a Sergent F or H-type coupler (tightlock).  This coupler severly limits travel from side to side and up and down at the point of contact between the couplers.  They are a bit more complicated to assemble than the Sergent E type coupler.  Directions are available at the sergent engineering website.
