<p>I think this topic has been discussed back and forth and sometimes even with some heat to it.</p> <p>Of course, there is a lot to say for a different way to supply the necessary juice to the motors of our engines, other than using the two rails we use these days. "Dead Rail" has a lot of advantages - no wiring and literally no cleaning of track and wheels. However, the devil hides in the detail of charging the batteries. Do you have to take them out for charging or can the remain "on board". How easy is either way performed? Is there going to be a standard plug for charging the batteries? I guess there are more questions to be asked that I can think of at the moment.</p> <p>Frankly, I don´t see that future coming soon. As long as there are no standards for battery operation established, people will most likely stay with the "old and proven". Look how long it took (and still takes) to roll out DCC!</p>
