Good morning from sunny and cold Northeast Ohio!
I managed to get another couple of cars done this week!
First up is an IMRC PS1 40' Boxcar with a 7' Door, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red Paint and lettered with K4 Decals. The Buffalo Creek railroad was started by the Erie and Lehigh Valley Railroads to serve the grain elevators and flour manufacturers in Bufallo, NY. They had serveral hundred cars from Pullman Standard and ACF in that service, all were lined to keep insects and other vermin away from the bags of flour, these cars could be found nationwide.
Next up a Walthers 89' piggyback flatcar, painted with Scalecoat II UP Hopper Gray and Reefer Orange Paints, then lettered with Herald King Decals. Several small railroads joined in the IPD movement in the late 70's purchasing 89' flats to avert a car shortage. Many of these cars ended up on major railroads when the IPD boom vanished. I loaded the flat with a couple of 40' vans that I recently finished.
Last week, I took my Athearn NKP GP9's to the club for a little running time. Here they are pulling a gereral frieght on the Strongsville, OH Club layout.

I haven't contributed in a few weeks as I had other, less photogenic projects at hand. This week I was finally able to get out the ol' Scalecoat and paint a former Santa Fe Budd Big dome in Pullman green for a conversion to the Conrail 'OCS' train.

The roof isn't completely snapped on as I still have some wiring to do. I modernized the diaphragms to the newer 'sewer-pipe' style that is popular these days.
I rode in this car when it was on the original Auto-Train as No. 514, and toured through it while on display in Altoona some years back. I believe N-S has it now in their office car equipment.

Rick, Thanks for rolling out another WPF with more interesting models. Your trio of striped GP9s hauling boxcars (upstream?) sure look good. Wondering if the cut-stone retaining wall was cast from a 'Blue Ribbon Models' A la Dave Frary mold?

Finished up my dumpster diving. Thanks to the camera's eye much of the exacting detail put into our 1:87 modeling can be more easily seen and shared.

Peter, the dumpster looks great, but the contents blew me away! Every separate article a model too.
After vehicles came up in the recent "Blue Box" discussion, as to any vehicles meet up with "Genesis" quality I got into a vehicular mode.
Athearn Mack B-61s sure do...
In this picture, the most foreground truck is stock Athearn,as are the 2 un the background (smokin ebay deal years ago). Next to it is a CMW IH cab, put on the Mack Chassis that they put the Ford cab on. The next 3 are CMW IHs with modified mixers off Boley modern IH rigs.
Malibu makes nice HO vehicles. I questioned the scale proportions on some of these, so researched their dimensions on line... the only one that's off is the VW bug, about a scale foot longer. Those Porsche SUVs are big! (and way too modern for my layout)

Sorry those are not Blue Box GP9's, they are of the Genesis variety. Once you see a proper width hood the old Blue Box's with their overwide hood widths cannot be unseen, so all Blue Box locos other than the GP38-2's GP40-2's and SD40-2's with the correct width are gone.
Also many of the Blue Box cars are not on my list of cars to build. Irv took so many short cuts on doing the cars that they are not prototypically correct for anything.
Dan, Liking you mixer trucks. Athearn makes some nice 1:87 trucks, and fun jazzin' em' up too. Also thanks for the dumpster comments, just had to have some plastic garbage bags in the pile, and lucky we had some of the thinner shopping bags on hand to make them from.
Dan, For sure your Anchor Brewing Co. car rings a bell with me, sorry the brewery closed recently after such a long and colorful Bay Area history.
