Dummy Locomotive

I have a Bachmann GP-7 that no longer runs. I removed the chip motor , etc.  All that is left is the split axle wheels with the gear. The engine does not roll very well. Is there something else I should do?  Are there replacement wheels that would work?

Well, welcome aboard, but what are your plans for this engine?  Do you plan to run it, or operate it as a dummy?

I have a couple of old HO dummies I still run as dummies, even though they're over 50 years old.  It's easy to remove the running gears and leave free-running wheels.  I've restored these engines by adding lights and sound decoders.

I believe he wants to run it unpowered.  He's asking if there are replacement wheels because the unit does not roll smoothly.

As Mr B says, take the trucks apart and remove the gears. The gears are what is interfering with smooth running.

May be a bit late now, but just out of curiosity, what exactly happened when the engine quit running? Like, do the lights still work but the engine doesn't move, or neither lights or motor do anything, etc.? It could be it is something that could easily be fixed or replaced. For example if the motor went bad, you can get a new one for around $20.

I should have stated this is N Scale.
I actually picked it up at a Flea Market, was in bad shape but looks good as a dummy.
