Ads are driving me crazy!

How do I get rid of all the pop up ads on this web site? It is one of the reasons I don't visit this site very much.

There are ad blocker programs available for every platform.  They are mostly free and if the ads are preventing you from enjoying the site, installing one might help.

What is an ad blocker program that would be suggested for this platform?

The "platform" would be the computer you are using, or all the computers you use if there's more than one.  For example, I use an Android tablet downstairs and an old Window XP desktop upstairs.  That's the machine you would download the ad blocker to.  Very simple and it takes care of all web sites you visit.

Our hosts frown on members recommending or "advertising" products, so I will not do that.  But you can simply google "ad blocker program" and get a listing.

Kalmbach really needs to remove the bottom-expanding and side-non-scrolling popup ads. These are destroying the forum.

What are these?  The only things I see are a welcome message on the upper right, and a MR ad on the bottom.

Tstage  You must already have an ad blocker running.  They are there.

David,

Yes, that's what I was implying. Smile, Wink & Grin  I do see them on my smartphone...and they are especially annoying.

I really hate the ads in the middle of articles on the Trains NewsWire.  When they pop up, they move the text down.  By the time you scroll to find what you were reading, a new ad pops up, and you have to scroll in the opposite direction to continue reading.  I know the ads support the free content, but could they just make it so the text doesn't keep jumping around.

Click on the three dots or lines that are in the upper right corner of your screen.

You are looking for settings.

Click on extensions, then open add ons

I use Ad-Block

Or if you are using Micro Soft : ) you can go to the App Store and click on Ad-Blocker

This is what the website looks like sometimes.

Is this what Kalmbach has approved as a suitable user experience?

That's not Kalmbach.  If you used the ad block mentioned by several above you would not have this issue.

That's not Kalmbach.

It only happens on this website, sure sounds like a Kalmbach issue at its root.
