Hello everyone, and welcome to a new weekend!
This week my share is another freight car I just acquired for my Tyco train set project. I have been buying these cars at a very slow pace.
This Burlington Northern car was not high on my priority list, and I have seen it many times before.

I bought this one because it was in nearly-new condition. It looks like it was just take out of the box on Christmas morning, 1977.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone's photographs this weekend. This thread can always be counted on to be the best of the week.

Myself. Not much on the layout as other priorities in life are first.
I did manage however to call into my local model railway shop. I did not have anything on a list to buy, just a look in.
Anyway, I saw a Musgrave, Armley wagon. Armley is an area of Leeds and near Kirkstall. Kirkstall & East Seacroft Railway passes through Armley.
At a price of £10.00 ($11.20 approx) a swift purchase was made.

Thanks for starting us out Kevin, great purchase for you but not something I would ever want on my layout.
David, nice purchase, unusual car for us North American modelers but I am sure they are all over the UK.
Well, I got a few cars done this week.
First, a Proto 2000 50' Double Door Boxcar with end doors, painted with Scalecoat II Mineral Red paint and lettered with Microscale Decals. I am showing both sides of the car as they are lettered differently. These were 1929 cars rebuilt in 1941 in Class FE-22. The FE class comes from the period when they did not ship autos in boxcars and the FE stood for FurniturE.
Next a rebuilt and repainted NYC boxcar, using a Branchline kit but with Despatch Roof and Ends, painted with Floquil PC Green and lettered with Microscale Decals. Car was used in general service.
Finally, a pair of Prepainted Bowser H21a hopper cars to add to the 18 cars already finished, but I did dull-coat the shiny factory applied paint. (Coal loads will be spruced up in the future.)

This re-worked Train Miniature CASO boxcar, supposedly had side panels that had bottoms rusted-out, and like their prototypes, had their life-span extended by the addition of new metal (actually aluminum foil)...
...and to dress it up a little bit more, I created inverse end panels by applying aluminum foil over a plastic Tichy end for a boxcar, then flipped the foil and after removing the car's original ends and replacing them with flat sheets of .060" styrene, cemented the reversed foil to the styrene, resulting in 5-5-3 inverse ends...
I can't say for certain that it's truly prototypical, but I have seen similar ends on several full-size CASO boxcars.

Hello, here is a train the passed by the town.
This train is led by NYC 7001.
There is a boxcar full of goods, two coal cars full of coal for the power plant, a limestone car for a concrete plant, a tank car full of chocolate heading to a chocolate factory, a reefer full of oranges, and a caboose the the crew is in.
Nice ATSF boxcars Rick. I have a few that look pretty similar made by Athearn.
I just got an SP Daylight Scheme observation car made by Katsumi Balboa. I plan to detail the interior in the future. Still working on my Key GS5 and getting it to run exactly the way I want so this will be on the back burner.
Kevin, Thanks for opening the WPF. Your treasure gives me new perspective. Many such cars have become victims of my weathering experiments, without a thought to their value as links to the past. Landscaping and working the soil in our yard over the years has at times unearthed a fragment of my son's childhood. Stopping my work to wistfully examine the artifact is a joyful visit to bygone days.
David, Ah yes, so many days begun with hopes of getting to the layout after those 'other priorities,' only to lose the race with the sun as it seemingly speeds across the sky. Btw, charming little 'wagon' you've got there.
bmtrainmaster, Lots of creative fun on your layout. I too enjoy imagining the type of freight being hauled in our scaled down rolling stock, also the prototype when waiting at a grade crossing.
