I cannot recall which plubucation it was in ten twelve years ago someone used Legos to model mill machiney. Bits of wire, plastic etc. were included. Any one have a link to it? The machines did not have any practical use, one was called a ring turning machine. They looked like they could do a ton of work. Looking for early 20th century machines to place on the roof of my chemical mill. Many thanks for any help.

Certain small pieces from Lego Technic kits can be used in indutrial models, but I doubt it is possible to build a good model entirely from Lego.
I have seen some Post-Apocalyptic and Steam-Punk wargames terrain using Lego as the main material, but it still required a lot of additional work.

Legos would be fun on a layout, but I'm not seeing how they can replace plastic structures (IMHO).
I can not remember just what I bought a box or two of Legos for, but they were dirt cheap at a yard sale. It had to be model railroad related judging from the time frame. I haven't used them yet.

This is looks like 21st century stuff but yea this is on the right track. What scale is this? Could you place a figure next to it? The Lego Technic kit, is it expensive? Thank you for your reply. Free lance modeling early 20th century.

Ulrich sent me this video. It is a little off the OP's machinery topic but it does show what can be done with Lego trains. However, to me, it looks too toylike. Cudos to those who enjoy it.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
At a recent train show I attended, there were 8 large displays with various scales. There was a large Lego layout, and it was crowded with kids watching the trains run.
We often talk about getting younger modelers into model railroading. I think this is a good thing for the hobby.
