Spatter,

Well, track plans can vary for each person alsmot as much as each persons favorite color. I would recommened picking up some magazines and some of the many layout books out there. Surf and start getting an idea what you would be intersted in and what you want to with yours.

Good luck, its a great journy

Best regards.

I would suggest going to the NMRA web site and look at all the info in the beginners section to give you some idea www.NMRA.com. Probably one of the biggest things to consider is space available to build your layout what scale are you going to run. If you are using HO scale many published track plans are for a 4x8 sheet of plywood. There are also alot of other considerations to think about like what engines you are going to run their wheel arrangement bigger steam and diesel require larger radius turns. What do you want to accomplish long trains and lots of maniline or switching .It can be a little overwhelming at first I would suggest as was said before buying a few magazines surf the web and don't get into a big rush ask questions there are many great people here who will answer you.[#welcome] to the forum another little hint to look at some nice layout pics to give some idea is clicking on the links at the bottom of the replies alot of people here have pics that you can look at.Good Luck keep us posted on your progress .
