Ulrich - What scale would 45 mm be ?
That´d be 1/32 or 3/8th" to a foot, commonly known as 1 gauge - look here if you´d like to get completely confused!

1 gauge is enjoying a tremendous comeback in Germany, with Marklin marketing a full range of locos, cars and track. The stuff is outrageously expensive - a steam loco is in the region of $3,000! For that money, you get a superbly detailed behemoth with lots of functions, like steam coming from the cylinders, the safety valve an the whistle, when sounded. The sound is fantastic - no wonder the tenders are big enough for a decent speaker!
