Has anyone ever tried making their own plaster cloth? If so, how did you get the dry plaster to stick to the cheesecloth?

Thanks!

Hi Dan,

IMHO, I think you are complicating the process needlessly. Trying to get dry plaster to stick to cheese cloth in sufficient quantities to make it work would a huge, messy exercise in futility IMHO. Mix up the plaster into a slurry and then dip the cheese cloth into it and then apply the wet cheese cloth to your scenery.

Cheers!!

Dave

I would never try to make it, not when you can get it so cheap.

Someone in here (I think it was Dave) suggested I buy in bulk, and I bought 60 rolls of this from Amazon.

At that price, why would you bother?

I used it on the cardboard mock-up layout, and it worked very well.

Amazon sells rolls like the ones you recommended that are specifically marked for medical purposes.  They also sell them marked for hobby use.  Do you know if there is any difference?

Plaster cloth used for medical purposes (specifically for making casts) is exactly the same thing as the ones used for our hobby use.
