Hello forum,
I purchased a Bachmann EZ track dual crossing gate. It is not electrical at all, however when my train travels over the plastic panel in the crossing the crossing gates bounce up and down. Does anyone have a quick fix for this. It is very unrealistic to see this every time my train passes through. Thanks again. Oh, it is for HO scale. Robert
Is it the gates that bounce? Because that is actually somewhat realistic or it was years ago.

Yeah, I was about to make a similar comment, Dave, as I do recall that many of them (some years ago) did do a bit of dancing when they were lowered.

Is this one of those gadgets where the weight of the train causes the gates to go down?
Yeah, there is a plastic platform that triggers the switch to lower the gates. So the weight of the locomotive keeps the gates down then as my rolling stock goes through both gates bounce up and down. So I suppose this could be a weight issue. Thanks everyone for your quick replies.
It isn't the weight, per se, but the continuous application of the weight. The plate is rather thin and has some flex in it that prevents the continuous force on the mechanism. Ideally you would replace the piece with something more rigid so that any contact would apply pressure along the full length of the mechanism.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Thank you. I purchased a more sturdy piece off of eBay from a parts or repair listing. The seller claimed that the plastic panel is stronger than what I had and does not bend like mine did. So this could be a 9 dollar fix. thank you for your reply. Robert
