I know I said I was done buying locomotives, but... this one showed up at a price that could not be refused.

I have always been interested in a VO-1000, but never pulled the trigger. This lovely example in perfect new condition was made by Stewart, and it is now mine.
It runs wonderfully well. It had no problems going through a 22" radius S-curve.
I don't need this, and I sure don't know why I bought it, but I am happy I have it.
Last week was a great edition of Weekend Photo Fun, I hope this one will be too.

Good morning from Northeast Ohio!
Nice score Kevin, and thanks for starting us out. I have a couple of the DS 4-4-10's as the NKP had 2 both assigned to the Cloverleaf yard in Toledo where I saw them operating.
First up is #13 complete of the Tichy Panel Side Hopper with grain extension. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Green tinged Silver and lettered with the kit supplied decals. The Anderson's acquired these cars from the Wabash and installed the grain extension as the cars would fill up with grain before they weighed out to capacity. The loads were covered with a tarp for the short trip from Maumee to the port of Toledo to unload the grain.
Next is a Branchline Berwick 5077CF kit, I added A-line Sill Steps and a Hennessy Door Openig Mechanism to the car to match the prototype. Railroads tried the Hennessy to mitigate the damage done by the fork lifts used to open the doors, but the door opener was fragile also and was easily damaged. Car was painted with Scalecoat II mixture of Big Sky Blue, BN Greeen and white paint along with Silver, then lettered with Herald King Decals. The Middletown purchased 500 of these cars during the IPD era and when it ended the railroad ended up with 500 cars on its rails that were not needed, took them 10 years to finally rid themselves of these cars.
Thanks to Ed (gmpullman) our club now has the feed mill to put into our grain elevator complex at the train club. It did not have all the pieces so I improvised with what was there and repaired some of the problems with the person who started the kit as well as using Campbell Corrugated panels for the roof material.

I have a few Stewart AS 616 locomotives myself. When compared to my Hallmark brass AS 616 , they run better, they have more detail, and the side sills are correct .
I need to go with you the next time your out shopping. I never find cool stuff like that.

Rick: The corrugated roofing material on the Sunrise Feed Mill makesit look like a much better model. Great work!
Timmy: I also have an AS-616 (I think that is what it is) that I bought several years ago. It is a great locomotive. You are welcome to come with me anytime, but luck is a huge factor.
Kevin, Thanks for starting up the WPF with a Baldwin. I've definitely a soft spot for Baldwins, my 1st HO locomotive being an Athearn S-12.

I just received this Hobbytown Of Boston locomotive drive kit in the mail.
It looks to be in "as new: condition. I don't think any of the parts packages have ever been opened. The tape on them is antique and intact.

I love building "old tech" things like this. I am surprised that both ends of the chassis are rounded. That makes my plan to use this as the chassis for a massive freelanced boxcab even easier.
Just what I needed... more projects in the closet.
Last week I had my Baldwins shown here and that is one nice find Kevin!!
This week I actually completed two items: the first is an Ulrich war emergency gondola I started, uh, 40 years ago. I painted it, for whatever reason, black and lettered it with Walthers decals back to CRIP vintage. I know CRIP never painted 'em black, but, well, ya know - - . The load is a batch of cut down metal hangers painted black to be used as rebar??
And now next is a Walthers 1944 style boxcar. It was undec and painted CB&Q Chinese Red from Trucolor. Champ decals and Walthers Solvaset completed the lettering and both models are finished with Krylon Matte Sealer with chalky finish.

ok the od looking rs# has been converted to a slug so hsa the S2. the mother units are not shown. The S2 mother is an RS32. and the rs3 isa rsd15. The other two are GP38-2 that are suppsoded to be rebuilds with new cabs (spongebob square cabs) that were 3d prints. both are p2k units. only the battery boxes had to be cut off the p2k frame for the fit. now they await decals (all of the units). and for the gp's Loksound decoders and i have to figure where the speakers will go.
A close up of one of the Geeps. As some know. I am working on rebuilding the layout. so these might no get run time for a while.
The next building in the E>F. screwloose machinery comlex. This will be moved to the new layout. which is why work goes on. it is ITLA modular sections.. needs detailing and weathering. The cat walk between buildings too.

Here is an sw1001 being painted, the rs32, and a U23B . all needs ecaling. the sw1001 is a 3d print. shell that fits over an Athearn genisis frame and gut (the sound version).

Its been a heck of a summer. The loss of my wife in July with all of the attendant necessities. Family trips to northern Michigan and Kentucky, and a neice's wedding all joined to make the railroad fall into dispare.
Thanks Kevin for starting off WPF. The loco appears to be a good find.
Rick - Great looking cars as usual. The feed mill loooks good to me. There is always room for F7s.

I did manage to tinker around enough to finally get my AMTRAK lead F40PH to travel in the right direction and reduced the sound level to a tolerable level. It is a smooth runner and handles four 82' passenger cars with ease.

Don: It warms my heart to see you copmplete an old project. I have a couple that have been lindering about for more than twenty years. I really need to finish these.
